Safety & SDS information

Safety documentation is separate from analytical testing.

A certificate of analysis or laboratory test report describes analytical results for a stated batch. It is not a Safety Data Sheet and must not be used as a substitute for hazard, storage, handling, transport or disposal information.

Safety Data Sheets

Where a Safety Data Sheet is required for a supplied material, the applicable SDS should be obtained and reviewed before the material is handled. SDS documents must correspond to the relevant substance, mixture and supplier information and should be kept current when classification or safety information changes.

Material-specific SDS files are not fabricated from catalogue names or COA results. If an applicable SDS is not yet published on the site, contact NOVA Labs before handling the material so the appropriate safety documentation can be provided or its status clarified.

Classification and labels

Materials should be assessed for applicable GB chemical classification, labelling and packaging requirements. Where a material is classified as hazardous, the relevant hazard statements, precautionary information and label elements must accompany the supply as required. A research-use-only statement does not replace chemical hazard labelling.

Storage, handling and disposal

Use suitable laboratory controls, trained personnel and facilities appropriate to the material. Follow the material-specific SDS and label for storage conditions, personal protective equipment, spill response and disposal. Do not infer handling instructions from a product photograph or from information intended for a different batch or substance.
